Ownership, handled with the same care
Underwater lighting in Southwest Florida saltwater asks for very little — but the little it asks for matters. Track it here.
Cleaning schedule
Biofouling — not hardware failure — is the number one cause of reduced output. In our waters, a 90-day interval keeps fixtures at full brightness. Docks in warm, slow-moving canals may want 60 days through the summer.
- 1Switch the circuit off at the breaker before reaching into the water.
- 2Wipe the lens with a soft brush or non-abrasive pad — no solvents, no scouring pads.
- 3Clear growth from the mounting bracket so the fixture keeps its aim.
- 4Check the cable for chafe where it passes through conduit or over the seawall cap.
- 5Restore power and confirm every fixture lights before you leave the dock.
Troubleshooting
Hurricane season checklist
- Photograph each fixture and the transformer before the storm for insurance records
- Switch the lighting circuit off at the breaker 24 hours ahead of landfall
- Confirm transformer and controller enclosures are latched and above expected surge
- Remove loose dock accessories that could strike fixtures in surge
- Leave fixtures mounted — they are engineered to stay submerged through storm conditions
- After the storm, inspect cable runs for abrasion before restoring power
- Restore power only after the GFCI tests clean; call us if it trips
