Do dock lights attract sharks?
Occasionally — for the same reason they attract snook. Here is what to expect.
Predators follow bait
A productive light gathers bait, and bait attracts everything that eats bait — including small sharks in Southwest Florida canals and passes.
It is normal, seasonal, and typically involves juvenile blacktips, bonnetheads or nurse sharks rather than anything alarming.
If you swim off your dock
Run the lights on a schedule and switch them off before swimming, or place the fishing light away from your swim ladder. RGBW scenes make it easy to separate the two uses.
